Studio Skills: SAFETY AND RECYCLING
Studio Skills: SAFETY AND RECYCLING
How do I clean my studio safely?
Do I need to wear a respirator for that?
How do I recycle all these little bits of clay waste?
Can I put my clay covered apron in the washing machine?
You’ve probably completed a short course or been to some workshops. You’ve learnt so much about a very specific part of the process. But now you want to keep doing that at home and you’re just not sure if you’re doing it right because someone else has been taking care of all these bits for you at the studio you’ve been going to.
Let’s hang out in my studio for a pot or two of tea and I’ll try to answer some of these questions. We can chat through different options to suit different situations. And we can pull on my experience working in a variety of different studio settings over the last 10 years to help us (from tin sheds in the middle of the outback to a single carport with no walls … from JamFactory to my own independent studio).
What will the session cover?
Safe ways to clean the clay mess
Looking after your lungs with respirators and ventilation
A basic clay recycling station + process
What will you leave with?
Confidence to work in a studio space and clean up safely as you go
A workbook with tips and tricks for studio cleaning
More value out of every bag of clay once you start recycling
Plus! We will have time for some Q&A’s and group discussions.
This session is part two of my Studio Skills series.
All sessions are held in my studio on Kaurna Country, Honeysuckle Lane, Prospect
