Big Gold Pot 1
Big Gold Pot 1
An ode to the potter’s touch….
Big Gold Pot 1 is a wheel thrown vase shape with bands of gold adorning the exterior, lip and base. These gold bands are impressed with the potter’s thumb creating a mesmerising pattern while celebrating the maker’s mark.
Made from stoneware clay and adorned with real gold lustre. This pot is approximately 34cm tall and 25cm wide (at the widest point).
This pot was shown at JamFactory Seppeltsfield as part of Barossa Beidermeier. To read more about the show and this pot click here.
Please note that this large and beautiful pot does not come without its flaws. Multiple cracks developed during the firing process, the worst of which is only visible when looking down inside of the pot. A number of finer cracks have developed on the outer surface of the piece due to repeated firings when adding the gold lustre as well as one green flash (from firing next to a copper saturated work). Most of these finer cracks are not visible unless viewed up close. I have attempted to highlight these imperfections in the images so please observe closely and consider whether these imperfections will not be to your taste. While some may find them aesthetically distracting others will see a story of provenance in them. I have accommodated for these flaws when pricing.
